Decorating with faux florals can be an easy and inexpensive way to bring life to your home.
For the longest time I’ve seen pictures of beautiful spaces with arrangements made of faux florals. They always look so pretty and so real in the pictures.
So every once in a while I would try to add faux arrangements to my decor and they never quite looked the same as the ones I would see in pictures.
Not to mention I’m no good at flower arranging.
Needless to say, faux florals have been something I’ve always had a hard time getting on board with….until recently.
It all started with a couple of greenery arrangements I found at a couple of big box home decor stores. They were simple and not to expensive.
Faux flower arrangements are so versatile. Mine get moved around a lot. So much so that I decided that I should probably add some more to my decor so what I have can stay in place for more than a week or so.
One day I found this garden tool box in the dollar spot. For some reason, they first thing that came to mind was using it for a flower arrangement. I kind of had that farmhouse feel to it that I have grown to love
Thanks Fixer Upper.
It was unfinished so I decided to paint it….
White, of course.
Next, I needed to find some greenery to put in it.
I made a handful of trips to Hobby Lobby trying to find the perfect thing to put in it….each time leaving with nothing. I kept thinking that I wanted to use boxwood stems but just like the real thing, the faux version was more than I wanted to spend.
So I kept thinking about it…..and looking at more pictures.
Then this week I noticed the florals were half off so I decided to give it one more try. I went in search again and this time, I decided on eucalyptus.
To put the arrangement together I simply places two small square pieces of floral foam in the tool box, cut stems from the eucalyptus “bush” and inserted them into the foam. To avoid holes or empty spots, I made sure I balanced the longer pieces with the shorter pieces. This gave it a fuller look.
Would you look at that! I may just be getting the hang of floral arranging!
Who am I kidding? This was too simple. I just kept adding pieces until it was “bushy”. You can’t really go wrong with that method.
I’ve had these turquoise jars for at least a couple of years. They were stored away until I started noticing the trend of using jars in decor. I have like eight of these babies so it was time to get them out!
At my half-off shopping spree I purchased these stems with little white flowers. I knew exactly where they were going to go.
Thanks to Joanna Gaines….the single stems in vases (jars, glass bottles, buckets…..) look is popular in decorating now.
Can this be considered floral arranging? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Did you know the dollar spot is the perfect place to find things that can be used for vases? Man, I really need to get better at this floral arranging thing. I can arrange party straws in vessels with the best of them. But flowers, yeah, not so much.
Case in point….
This is like one type of flower, y’all! It can’t be that complicated. Why are flowers so much harder to arrange than greenery? I thought surely, I could get this right. Just cut and throw them in a vase like real flowers, right?
I guess I’ll keep trying.
I’m not really one to give up that easily.
Check out the arrangement of those paper straws and KCups though. I pretty much nailed that, huh?

Right? I love real flowers but they’re not always practical.

Thank you! I originally was thinking yellow or pink but you can never go wrong with white, right?
