Bring a little bit of Spring to your home with this easy DIY grass wreath
We have had a fairly mild winter here but I’m sure most of you are willing Spring to come quick. I have just the project to lift your spirits and bring Spring into your home a little bit sooner than the bipolar weather.
We live on an acreage and on our property there’s a constant fight against what we call goat heads (stickers). We are constantly inadvertently bringing them in on our shoes and they get stuck in our carpet.
They are absolutely no fun to step on when you are barefoot. I’m talking way worse than Legos. More like little tiny needles.
They seem to be worse in the late winter/early spring so I made this wreath a couple of years ago and every year, it hangs in my entry politely hinting for people to take off their shoes when they come in.
DIY Grass Wreath
Materials needed:
- Styrofoam wreath
- Light green “fur” yarn (I got mine at Hobby Lobby)
- Straight pins with colored pin heads
- White paper flowers/daisies
- Baker’s Twine
- bare feet welcome banner (download here)
Directions:
- Wrap “fur” yarn around Styrofoam wreath until completely covered tucking the end under the yarn.
- Place flowers randomly around wreath and attach by using the straight pins as the center of the flowers.
- Print and cut ‘bare feet welcome’ banner.
- To assemble the banner, run the banner flags through a sticker maker (you can use any adhesive) and fold each flag in have over the baker’s twine.
- Position banner and attach with straight pins or glue. (I strategically placed the flowers where I could tie a loop knot and use the pin in the center of a flower to attach the banner.)
- Attach a colorful ribbon for hanging.
