This pizza sauce is a little bit sweet, a little bit spicy and a whole lot of delicious! Simply throw the ingredients together and let the flavors combine while you are getting the rest of your pizza ingredients together.
We are a pizza loving family. So much so that we typically have pizza once a week.
Sometimes take out pizza just isn’t in our budget so I’ve started a tradition of make your own pizza night with everything made from scratch right down to the sausage!
If you love pizza, you know that a good pizza sauce is key to a good pizza. Well, I’ve experimented with several recipes and this one is our favorite.
It’s a very versatile recipe. If you like sweet but don’t like spicy, you can leave out the spicy but if you like spicy and not so much the sweet, you can leave out the sweet! Even better? If you don’t like the sweet or the spicy you can leave out both and it’s still delicious!
I’ve even been known to make this sauce for pasta meals as well. With just a couple of tweaks, it works great for spaghetti!
One of the ingredients that really makes this sauce is Parmesan cheese. Yep! You read that right, cheese!
This sauce is so good that I could just eat it straight out of the bowl. Pass me a spoon please!
- 1 6oz can tomato paste
- 1 6oz can water
- 3 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 3/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- 1/4 tsp marjoram
- 1/4 tsp basil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Mix all ingredients, cover and place in fridge until ready to use.
- The longer it sits the better the flavor so it's best to make it at least 20-30 minutes before using.
