When I was planning my girls Troll party, I wanted a natural table setting to go along with the them of the movie. One day I had spotted some wood in our backyard and wondered how I could use it for the party. It almost immediately occurred to make food label holders!
Normally, I just make some tented food labels but I wanted to do something different. Being an outdoor party, it only made sense to use label holders for the food labels so I asked hubby to cut enough wood slices for the food labels I would have.
The next step was figuring out how to make them into holders. He cut them fairly thin so cutting a slit through the middle was out of the question. I then began digging through my craft supplies and came across some binder clips. I had used binder clips for photos so they were perfect for this project! I got out my hot glue gun and began gluing on the binder clips. They worked perfectly for the party! I wasn’t crazy about just having a black binder clip stuck to a wood slice but I ran out of time to do anything about it before the party.
Now that I’ve had more time to work on them, I decided to do something about the not so pretty binder clips so I covered them with jute. I think covering them in moss would also be cute!
How to make Wood Slice Place Card Holders
These wood slice food label/place card holders are so incredibly simple to make.

Wood Slices
Twine/Jute
Small Binder Clips
Glue Gun
Scissors
First, you will need to glue the binder clip in the middle of the wood slice and let dry.
Once the glue is dry you can start wrapping the jute around the binder clip gluing it down as you go.
When the binder clip is covered, feed the jute through the middle of the clip, glue down and cut. This will help cover any of the binder clip that is still showing.
Add food labels or name cards and your done!
