This homemade salsa is so easy to make. It requires very little prep work and is delicious and full of flavor.
I am a chips and dip kind of girl. When I’m searching for a quick snack, chips and salsa is usually my first choice. Back in my college days, my roomate’s dad would make fresh homemade salsa and send her a jar or two and when the infamous homemade salsa was delivered, our room was invaded by other residents.
There quickly became a core group of girls that would gather in our room and munch on chips and salsa. We would have these gatherings so much that we eventually became known as the Chips and Salsa Girls (AKA Salsa Girls). Now, when the Salsa girls get together (yes, we are all still friends many, many years later) it is inevitable that at some point, we end up sitting around, munching on chips and salsa and catching up.
Recently, I had the urge to make some homemade salsa instead of going to my trusty jarred salsa….you know, the kind that’s NOT made in New York City. I was too lazy to chop up a bunch of vegetables but had some basic ingredients that would work just fine so I got creative and came up with something fabulous!
- 2 cans diced tomatoes and green chilis
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt & Pepper
- Dump all ingredients into a food processor. Using pulse, mix ingredients until they are finely chopped and mixed. For the best flavor, transfer to a sealable container and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
