Styling a vignette can be overwhelming for some but it’s actually pretty simple. You just need to know where to start. I am going to give you 3 basic steps for creating your own fall vignette.
It’s almost Fall, y’all! Have you brought out your decor yet? I’m slowly bringing mine out while trying to fit in some Halloween decor for my girls.
I recently decided to finally change my chalkboard that has been the same since February of this year. Since Fall was (hopefully) on it’s way, I went with a Fall theme (I wonder how long it will be pumpkin spice season in my dining room…hopefully only until Christmas, LOL).
The last time I did chalkboard art I got very frustrated with my chalkboards. After some research, I learned that you have to condition them by rubbing chalk over the surface. I did this again before I started on my Fall chalkboard and while I still had a little trouble, I found that the chalk went on better than before. Maybe someday I’ll venture into using chalk markers but I really like the look of actual chalk but it was old fashioned chalk all the way this time.
After some “good job” and “it’s so cute, mom” compliments, I wondered if I could duplicate it to create a printable version. I got my sketch pad out and began to try to duplicate it. That was the easy part. Creating the printable version was the next step. I’ll spare you of those boring details.
Anyway, after a couple of attempts, I finally came up with what I thought was an acceptable version to share with all of you! I have included a 5×7 and an 8×10 for you.

How to Style a Fall Vignette
To begin creating your fall vignette, you will need a focal point. For my vignette I started with none other than the free printable. I had this wood frame with a burlap mat that screamed fall and so I had my focal point!
Next, gather all the fall or coordinating decor you can find. For your fall vignette, you don’t have to restrict yourself to only fall themed decor. Grab any other decor that matches or can be used as vessels for smaller items. Some examples would be table runners, doilies, candle holders, baskets, bowls, crates, etc.
For this vignette, I used a crate, a vintage candelabra, some target dollar spot pumpkins and some fall themed bowl filler that I picked up at Hobby Lobby.
Finally, begin placing items around your focal point. Start with smaller items right around your focal point so that you don’t take away from it. Then you can start adding larger items and height. Also, don’t forget about a backdrop if you have a blank space behind your vignette. A backdrop can be anything from a mirror to a garland or even a simple wreath.
Since I have large lamps that frame my vignette on either side, I decided to go with a simple wreath that tied all the colors together in my vignette.
Congratulations! You just created a fall vignette masterpiece! Now sit back with your pumpkin spice whatever and enjoy your creation.
