Construction is done!
The exterior construction on the playhouse is finally finished and I am thrilled with the results! Check out the before here!
Hubby worked hard trying to turn this once shed into an adorable farmhouse style playhouse. Like most things, it was a little more difficult to “remodel” than it would be to just start from scratch and considering the shed was originally built by a group of teenagers, he did an awesome job with what he had to work with.
We still have some finishing details to complete like window boxes, lattice (or something) around the bottom, and some landscaping. Our plan is to add a sun deck on the side closest to the girls new pool this Fall. Until then, I’ll be working on decorating the inside.
I love the window trim but my most favorite part is the details on the front porch. The decorative detail at the top and bulking up the posts was just what this playhouse needed to take it from boring shed to an adorable playhouse!
We put up solar lights on the porch but once we get electricity over to the playhouse, I want to add a pendant barn light. The solar lights aren’t that bright and it would be nice to light up the backyard a little at night.
I have found my inspiration piece for the inside. Just like the inspiration piece, the interior will be cute but simple. I have found that keeping the decor to a minimum is the best way to go with kids. This is because once the girls occupy their space, it will, much like their playroom in the house, be a complete disaster ninety percent of the time.
